Scarf Dancing

I just started using scarves this year.  I’ve always used them for baby time but thought it would be great for the 2-5 year olds too.  They LOVE to dance around and shake their scarves.  Here’s some songs we use.

Grand Old Duke of York
When we get to “…out of sight” we throw our scarves behind us.

Going to Kentucky
We're going to Kentucky
We're going to the fair
To see the senorita
With the flowers in her hair.
So shake it baby shake it,
Shake it like you can,
Shake it like a milkshake,
And pour it in a pan.
Now rumble to the bottom,
And rumble to the top.
Now turn around and turn around
Until you holler stop.

Shake Your Scarves
Tune: Row Your Boat
Shake, Shake, Shake your scarves
Shake them up and down
shake them fast and shake them slow
and shake them around and around

I Dropped My Scarf
(Tune: I Dropped My Hat by: Kathy Reid Naiman)
I Dropped my scarf, pick it up, pick it up x3
And I put around my neck!

This is the way we…..
dance with our scarves/ throw our scarves/ jump with our scarves/ hide with our scarves

Hokey Pokey – put your scarf in/out, etc.

Ring around the Rosie
(holding onto our scarves in a circle)
