I’ve had a parachute at Binbrook for years and have many songs that I sing when the parachute comes out.
Here’s some we always sing –
Shake and Shake
Tune: Tap and Stop on Tickles and Tunes by Kathy Reid Naiman
Let’s shake and shake and shake and shake and stop!
(hold the stop for a few seconds for suspense)
Let’s shake and shake and shake and shake and stop!
Let’s shake and shake and shake and shake and stop!
Let’s shake and shake and shake and shake and stop!
(gradually get faster and faster)
This one is great for shakers too!
When the Parachute Goes Up
Sung to: "If you‛re happy and you know it"
When the parachute goes up - Stomp your feet
When the parachute goes up - Stomp your feet
When the parachute is high
And floats up in the sky
When the parachute goes up - Stomp your feet
... bend your knees...wiggle your bottom...lift one leg...shout hooray...shake your head…etc.
POPcorn
(Start by crouching low and shaking the parachute slowly)
You put the oil in the pot and you let it get hot
You put the popcorn in and you start to grin
Sizzle, sizzle x5
POP! (jump up on pop and lift the parachute into the air)
Sleeping bunnies ……… a great one to sing. Have the parents hold the parachute and the kids lay under it. When they hop up the parachute lifts into the air and parents shake it.
Zoom, Zoom We’re Going to the Moon……another good one. Crouch low and jump up when the kids “blast off”.
Grand Old Duke of York……a favourite too.
